I think AI is an incredible tool to use for brainstorming and ideation. It is great to use to kickstart something or get out of a rut, but I don't think it does well to piece together entire narratives.

The short story in the note below is 95% written by AI. I gave it a jumping off point and it spit out a storyline. I went through a couple drafts with AI to clear out inconsistencies. For example, in an early draft, the blacksmith goes to his injured son on the battlefield which doesn't make sense, so I told it what should have happened instead.

As it is, AI tells stories like a toddler. They can tell you lots about a really cool dragon! a princess! she loves peaches! a knight! he has laser eyes! he is best friends with the dragon!

The story can have a beginning, middle and end but it might not all fit together.

Regardless, it is a TON of fun to play around with and I think it makes it's human users better storytellers. Whether or not it will beat us remains to be seen.

Agreed! I think it moves the human into the role of higher level storyteller. Or story architect maybe? Because there still seems like there will always need to be some kind of human involvement with this inherently human-based artform.

I think humans will always be the storyteller/storymaker, but AI can do a great job of being the scribe.

I think the editing process could be improved dramatically as well using AI. Again, not completely removed, but there can/should be more tools to remove passive voice and common misspellings.
