to project the right image it also helps to drive the right car and be dressed right

drive an elegant ( but not douchebaggy or aggressive ) car and be dressed like you're going to work

if you're driving an E350 Mercedes and wearing a Business Suit the cop will tell you to enjoy the rest of your day

if you drive an Altima and have a gold chain on the neck you are getting shot

I must have projected the right image. I was driving a German car and wearing golf-chad clothes, which is basically normal for programmers (some dress much worse), although I was coming from the dance studio. I was speeding because I had trance music on and was too hyped up. But this particular stretch of road has been almost cop-free for several years - no more.

i also like to blast music and drive dangerously coming back from the gym.

cars are a trap like this - the better you feel the more they get you in trouble.

this is what sucks about becoming old and wise - the number of things you can enjoy dwindles because you recognize most of them as traps.

about the only thing you can still enjoy as you get older is tinkering with various tools ( like those garden pruning shears i been ordering this week ) which is why when i broke them i finally lost it. because i realized i was giving up the last thing i have that i can still enjoy in order to meet obligations imposed on me by the world that never cared about me. i was betraying myself.
