#3dprinting things I have learned.

1.5mm G10 sheets make the best build plates. PETG (& supposedly everything) sticks really well while the bed is hot, and then pops right off once the bed cools. Best printing/part removal experience I have had, nothing else comes close.

For strong parts you should print with a layer height of less than half your nozzle size (25% is best) & a layer width that is 25-50% larger than your nozzle (150% is best)

Everything you make that can be designed to print in vase mode (which is actually most things) should be printed in vase mode. You basically have to model the entire print path to create internal structures (which can be difficult), but the finished parts are so much better in so many ways.

CHT nozzles are great (even the knockoffs), part cooling is important, slicer software is annoying.

What machine are you running?

It's a modified TronXY X5SA with a kinda jerry-rigged direct drive setup. It's not perfect, but it works pretty well.

I also got some new parts for Christmas that are going toward my next build which is sorta RatRig inspired but will be my own design 😊

Very cool. I'm struggling to get my ender 5 back up and running, think the thermistor is borked. Resisting the urge to replace the whole thing with a prusa

The Ender5 is not a lot different than my TronXY. It's a decent base to build on.

After watching tons of extruder testing & reviews I am pretty sold on the BQ H2 V2S as an out of the box extruder+hotend upgrade for any printer. You'll have to make your own mounting bracket or find one on thingiverse & have it printed or something, but it shouldn't be too hard.

Direct drive seems like a huge upgrade in termskof performance. Will check it out. Thank you!
