I'd never do it for the sats.

I do it because it just works - seamlessly & quickly. It's a great Ux for someone's first taste of bitcoin. Download an app, hit receive & I send you permissionless money in an instant.

There's no ideal second layer solution & newbies aren't going to be running their own lightning node straight away (or ever).

It's a spending wallet, not a saving wallet.

I want the newbie to see what bitcoin could be & not what it currently is. Layer 3 solutions are coming that will have better tradeoffs.

If you're using the base layer & running your own lightning node, you are incredibly priveledged. Most people will never be able to do this.
