I listened to an amazing podcast recently that blew my mind with this perspective. Josh Schrei on The Emerald podcast compared the many Indian gods as being a vastly more contextual way of ‘doing’ mindfulness than our western clinical practices. They honour their ‘hungry gods’ with offerings to maintain balance. The neurobiological shifts that occur when we take physical action to change our emotional or thought patterns is key. This guy sums this up beautifully
