No response is the best strategy if you have nothing better to say.
It shows eloquence and discipline, rather than running your mouth with nothing of value.

ty. but it is not an easy practice. try active listening without the urge to right away response. It takes a lot of self-discipline. ☺️👌
this comes somewhat naturally to me. i don't know of how many situations i've been in where i have no idea what's going on, but say nothing. once i have a handle on it, i might make a suggestion or offer an insight and people sometimes think i'm a genius. lol
i tend to be very cautious and reserved, though i'm really just shy irl.

Circumstancial opinion. It may also show you we're ignoring someone who was conversing with you or present an insinuation that could create confrontation. I think acknowledgement is the best strategy in majority of circumstances then to be silent. That's just my opinion on it.
