Anyone have any thoughts about this? Any way at all that this could be a client issue?

Can't see how this is anything other than cached messages or accidental nsec sharing.

I'm just trying to make sure we are seeing only the DM list, but not the messages. They haven't responded yet though.

They definitely can't see the content of the messages but they'll see how many messages, with who, at what time and how large the messages are

Correct. The fact that DMs are sent is public data but the content is encrypted.
