When I said that Nostr allows us to be our own algorithms, it wasn't a meme. What I meant was that we have to do the work, we have to curate our feeds, we have to engage with our followers and our fellow Nostriches. Nostr is only going to be as good as you make it. Nostr has no algorithms to bring content forward. The algorithm is our Proof-of-Work.

Hmm. Perhaps. It's up to the user to follow whomever they want and use the relays that they want.
Both a blessing and a curse. This is technical stuff and the masses increasingly want ease of use and turn key plug n play.
Maybe the next generation will be more adept at web5 style own Node and self reliance.
People only want spoon-fed content because that's what they're used to getting. Back in the day, we didn't have algos on IRC, forums, MySpace and even Facebook or Twitter. It was a firehouse.
I still believe that nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s and his idea of an algorithm store may be that sweet spot for people.
This is why I think it’s so special. We all have a part to play in building our community. The user is respected as an integral part of the success of the protocol. Designers, devs, content creators, shitposters all have a role to play. No single person is more important than another.
It’s felt like this since the beginning and it is what drew me here and has kept me coming back. It’s the community. It’s all that matters. Nostr has a way of thinning the boundaries the outside world has put around us, so that we are able to establish and cultivate real relationships.
The cool thing for me is that I get to do my own social media client just like I want it to be. Can you imagine that, building your own twitter like app? New iOS interface (iPad) 🙃 
That's how all of our clients exist today. Devs want to build their own clients. Don't like what's available? Build it!

Well said, but imo to scale this thing it needs to either:
A) offer something new, unique and cool in eyes of a normie
B) or 10x improvement in things that aren't new for a social network.
I'm not sure censorship resistant and leveraging btc is enough on its own.
Maybe if many other integrations and applications can be facilitated through nostr, and they find traction, then network effects could really take off.
I love this, it mirrors my own thinking on here. I like how Nostr reflects what you bring to it (my experience so far) if you spread positivity that is what you attract here, if you are an argumentative soul then that's what you appear to encounter.
