I wonder how long before AI can generate high quality movies. “Make me a live action movie about the legend of zelda”. I wouldn’t be surprised if this happens in the next decade or two.
Discussion
Hollywood doublefisted through streaming and AI..
I guess it’s already being used in film to some degree. But probably very choppy or heavily edited. Saw something about that a while ago.
Full blown minimal editing is probably a year away - my best guess.
My bet is it will be done before 2035.
While today it might look nice already, it would write shitty or unoriginal stories
Let AI generate a decentralized future that anyone has a chance to fairly participate.
I think you could make an AI generated film today. Write the script, block the scenes, make the cinematography/lighting decisions, then generate each frame. It would probably take a supercomputer forever, tho.
Question is, how long before your laptop could do it in a couple minutes?
Probably closer to 20 years than 10.
pika.art can get you a few seconds that you can chain together: https://pika.art
Here’s a prompt test I did in a few minutes:

do you really wonder how long…?
…since everyone seems to say it will be pretty soon, almost already here.
& as long as the story (prompting) is high quality, there wouldn’t be a problem with the moving imagery to be good, right?
Decade ? It feels quite sooner, sooner than the next halving
The quality of today's movies is already as if they were generated by AI.
Mixed feelings about AI movies.
There is a bit of me which wants to hold back any hope that it would allow people to circumvent the funding criteria and other industry bullshit to allow people to make interesting stuff. (I think in this scenario the writing would have to be by a human for it to be interesting). But I suspect it'll just be the same problems.
But yeah.... someone made an AI trailer for a Sodom and Gomorrah:
damn, that's a well done trailer for sure 👀
Did you see the "Morgan Freeman" video, which wasn't Morgan Freeman? Yeah, I reckon a decade tops. We're practically there.
Is this ship cannon ?
I think it's going to happened much soon, the pace of development is just insane.
Yes, I believe things like Netflix will be more like YouTube, movies made by anons, just using AI, then you will have the trending ones and stuff. Anyone will be able to do their own.
It will be great to see how much more loyal fans and AI are to the story than the crap some Hollywood creep pumps out.
I will actually lament that day...human creativity is what makes us special. Handing over creativity to a computer is a loss for us all....
midjourney v5 so crispy
It'll look alright except for the hands and the story will be shit. You won't feel a thing and you'll only remember the parts the AI fucked up.
I agree, within the next decade seems realistic.
