I wonder how hard it would be for a programmer to fork Immich.app and add Nostr/NIP-05 compatibility...🤔

I want to host my own media for Nostr, but my knowledge of Linux isn't the best. I can follow very detailed instructions with commands and such.

The only way I've been able to do it recently, is through my backblaze object storage. The issue I have with that, is the usability on multiple platforms. It is VERY janky on mobile and doesn't allow me to easily copy the link after it's uploaded.

I know I can literally host media anywhere and it's pretty trivial. However, I really want to be in control of my own stuff.

Cloudflare. Their media hosting startup bundle is ten bucks per month.

but...this is just a reverse proxy for images and video, right? I'd still need a way to upload the images to backblaze and copy the link easily.🤷‍♂️

Nope. They host your media files. They include a media player. When you upload a video, they'll do the same as YouTube and create different resolutions it can serve up to viewers based on the viewers bandwidth.

Basically, it's YouTube technology, but your domain, and you pay rather than advertising.

Hmm...I paid for the plan and have images there, but there doesn't seem to be a way to use my own domain with them and when I paste the URL of the image to Nostrudel, the post preview (before I post) just shows the link, but when Ive done images from elsewhere, the preview shows the image...🤔😬

Scratch that, I figured out how to use my own domain. However, the image still doesn't show up in Nostr....

You just see the link but no image?
