Open source is gonna win this AI race. To keep ourselves safe from bad AIs, we need strong personal AI tools. GPT4All sounds like it can do ChatGPT stuff without sharing our data with OpenAI. That's the next project I'll look into.

Jeff Booth and Guy discussed this dynamic on the AI unchained podcast and it's happening all to quickly. Freedom of information will prevail with open source AI models flipping the control mechanism on it's head by the exponential rise of open source AI tools. Abundance is coming to all humanity, very soon.

Just love Jeffs viewpoints and his book. In fact I think I will add it to the list of books I re-read yearly.

Other books on that list is

The Sovereign individual

Richest man in Babylon

The fourth turning

Interesting to see open source AI is catching up quickly.

Still, I can't stop thinking the real "competition" isn't open source, but the stuff that's being developed in the top secret military labs in the US, China and Russia. The stuff nobody has heard of...

And possibly only will when some form of AI, 10x or 100x more capable than GPT4 has worked itself out of its lab environment Wuhan style, nesting itself stealthily in AWS and other large cloud infrastructure and from there, taking over and using any IOT device it can hack to achieve whatever goal it has set its mind on.

That is, if the idiot politicians responsible for those programs haven't integrated it with weaponry directly.

Call me an idiot, fear monger or Luddite, but these scenarios aren't discussed nearly enough.

We can only get it terribly wrong once...
