I would say if there’s nothing wrong with follow packs, there’s nothing wrong with mute packs. People do not have to use them
It's useful to look at their implementation in other systems though, and see the potential downsides that they caused there. I think WoT stuff, though early and crude, strives towards the same goal.
ie, for crude comment trolls, you report them as such. Other women in your wot can use these reports to filter out the trolls. Some apps do this already and it's pretty effective for cutting down on stupid spammy stuff.

But I kind of don’t get that the difference is not in method, but in result to mute packs. Wouldn’t the setting and using a mute pack have the exact same effect?
With a mute pack wouldn’t you pull in all previous and future mutes from the pack, without any sort of manual review
I would imagine that each woman would create their own mute pack and then just share it with all the others and each lady could pick and choose at their leisure 🤷♀️
What I’m unsure about is what happens when new npubs are added to a list you added ? Don’t they get added to your mute list?
I think reports are finer grained, there are several reasons you can give for reporting, and it's dynamic based on your group, not a static list created by one person. So you could filter one kind of report, while ignoring another type, depending on your personal preference. It's Nostr so it's still a WIP, and not included in all clients. It is works in Amethyst quite well though.
To be honest I've never used follow packs either, if anything I might look through them to find people, but never just add a whole list without checking.
Yeah, but tinkering in those settings to me is a little complicated for onboarding non tech literate individuals, but I don’t use amethyst
This is what I see when I go to block someone. You can just mute them, or mute and post a report as well. Pretty simple actually.
Not I, but there is a separate report button, but I don’t use it because I was under the impression that it didn’t really do anything, but I am still learning nostr to this day
I think report definitely sends info to the relay operator. Part of the reason veritas would cry so much 😂

Yeah I think damus has it as well. Basically reporting helps others know that people in their wot have had issues with others before. It's up to the client too do something with that info.
