Isn't it weird that shitcoins and memecoins get millions in funding as completely anon rugpullers, and yet stuff like opensource nostr dev can barely get a few cents a day being truly anon? 🤔 Sup w dat, anon? Is it the wanting to get rich thing that Gary keeps talkin' bout, is that what nostr needs? 😂

I'd wager it's about as high as 99% of people "in crypto" aren't in it for the tech, but more to try and get rich quick

It's why we see absolute degen projects, who straight up say the project has zero value, like pepecoin, absolutely moon with pump and dumps.

Then people FOMO buy and you best hope you're not the last holding the bag when the whales profit take. Greed is a helluva drug...

VCs get a cut from rugpilling anons. No one in the legacy system can use nostr to leech wealth from the plebs to themselves. That's why they don't fund it.

True dat. Yeah. All those Dubai VCs n stuff.

one has to convince them using all the usual tricks that it's gonna make a quick buck and the VCs will be magnetised

Nostr being open source means it will grow organically and at its own pace. I think this is good. VCs arent usually interested in this as there is no obvious ROI or exit strategy. They are interested in strike missions with high ROI. Scams and shitcoinery lend themselves to that as people are easily marketed too based on emotion and being broke. Game Stop is a good example of this. People say I cant buy a house, afford to live but maybe if I gamble I'll win and if I dont then I was gonna go broke anyway.

It's interesting.. how even crowd funding projects rug all the time, and still, people pay for them years in advance.. in the hopes something gets produced. Usually for a hardware project I suppose. I bet a nostr hardware project would do well, whereas software just isn't as exciting or seen as having value in this day and age.

I just think it's interesting the dynamics of what people are willing to spend their money on.
