I'm seeing a lot of disinformation and misinformation circulating regarding pooled mining versus solo mining. Let's clear some things up.
Pooled mining is when you share block rewards with other miners. Solo mining is when you don't. Solo pool and similar models are not pools. They don't pool rewards between miners. Solo pool is a cloud block template provider, not a mining pool.
When you mine to a pool you MUST share block rewards with the other miners contributing hashrate. This is enforced by the pool operator controlling the coinbase that you mine on. You must include payouts to other miners in the coinbase. If you mine to a different coinbase you get kicked out of the pool. This is how pools work. It's the ONLY way to do pooled mining. There is no alternative.
People are fudding Ocean because they operate IN THE ONLY POSSIBLE WAY FOR A MINING POOL TO OPERATE. These are not serious people. They are solo mining maximalists who (probably intentionally) misunderstand how pooled mining works.
Do not listen to their propaganda. We aren't gonna save the world with solo mining. We need pools to provide regular payouts. We need people to understand how pools work.
We need more Oceans in the world, not less.
