While I was grilling my Valentine's Day steaks, I received a phone call from "Coinbase Support" telling me that my account had been hacked and the hacker had stolen 1.6 BTC from me. I laughed and told them I hadn't used Coinbase in years and also that I wasn't dumb enough to keep any bitcoin on an exchange. 😂

That looks like a movie camera.

Right, was wondering what a movie camera meant for a while

Surprised you answered the phone

It was a California number that called me 3 times in a row. I figured maybe it was family. You never know.

RoboKiller app fixes this! Don’t know how I managed without it!

I’ve seen a few instances on r/Coinbase lately where people are getting calls from Coinbase Support and the caller is able to spoof their support email and generate ticket numbers. The implication is that it’s a rogue employee (or employees).

I did get a fake email from Coinbase Support. It's using the old Coinbase logo and email template, but otherwise, it looks legit. People will absolutely fall for this. It's not your normal phishing email from a false domain.

You answer calls from unknown numbers?

If they call me 3 times in a row.

“Call me, 3x, maybe” - #[2]

And this is crazy!

But here’s my address, so zap me maybe?

Lmao!!!

🤣

I’d laugh too. I’m too broke to loose that much lmao

Should have asked them "what's bitcoin". Gotta improve that opsec if they have your phone number.

How credible did they sound?
