Who else is running community events to help the masses put Linux on their desktops before Windows 10 abandons them?

Do you have any tips to share?

I'm going to be involved in one of these in my town and want to learn from those who came before me.

I love helping people save money, getting them to switch to open source software, and make the most of what they already have. This is like a perfect storm for me. ๐Ÿ˜„

Good work!

I want to do my small part, but haven't been involved in anything yet.

Just moved to Ubuntu from a Mac, and glad I switched despite the challenges of getting everything configured and working

Have an old Lenovo T480 with Ubuntu on it I am thinking of selling cheap here on Nostr to someone that wants to try Linux but hasn't jumped in yet.

I think making it easy for people to try and experience just how far Linux has come is valuable. Especially if they don't have to wipe their current machine to do it, or try and get dual boot working.

havenโ€˜t done that in a long time.

I guess hardware is still a problem. Like the printer that is waiting at home.

The level of understanding about general topics probably still varies a lot: encryption, backup, anti virus, what about my data on microsoft onedrive

Still learning myself so not really teaching, yet unashamedly preaching to family & friends

If there's a Makerspsce near you, you could probably go in and get tips & pointers from people there

Would you want this T480 to someone that wants to Learn Linux?

If you zap me shipping cost, happy to send it over to help your efforts.

I am going to have to pass. I have several Linux desktops that I have been unable to give away.

It might be that I'm not trying hard enough, but that's just it, I don't want to put in that effort when I could just wait until I bump into someone in need and offer them one. But I don't want to become the Linux warehouse in the process. ๐Ÿ˜…

I'm working with my mentor to help. He made his own bootable Win 11 usbs. I'm supplying Mint or lubuntu on a 16g SD card
