I'm looking to redo my Linux setup on my desktop. Currently it has Mint on it. I need two things: a local LLM to work, and gaming.
What are your suggestions?

Get windows of you want to play games.
Disable secure boot. Great now you can't play a lot of newer games.
Hmmmm fedora.. Been a decade since I used it.. Hope it's better now
Currently I'm using a distro called Nobara on my game machine. I'm usually a Debian/xfce guy but I'm actually quite enjoying fedora with KDE.
I've tried all 3 and they work well. Pick any of them for gaming, they remove a lot of the rough edges and provide a SteamOS like experience. FWIW my 500+ game Steam library works well with Linux, I've yet to find a game that I haven't been able to play. Proton is constantly improving too.
protondb.com is a good site if you want to check compatability of a specific game. It often has good tips to run them better too.
Thanks, I'll check it out..
Have you tried ollama on it? Or any other local LLM?
For LLM ollama is a good choice, running from the terminal.
If you want a GUI try LMstudio.
I've used both on my fedora machine to good results 👍
