I just did a walk audit with the city. I learned 3 things:

1. Cities in Mass can only raise their costs by 2.5% a year, below inflation, by state law. You don't get to control your own budget, not even if all the infrastructure is crumbling.

2. The city cannot move USPS boxes, even if they end up in the middle of the road due to a road/sidewalk redesign.

3. If the city line cuts through your house, the location of your bed, more precisely, the head of the bed, define which city you pay taxes to.

Gotta love public works.

The moment we acknowledge that land ownership belongs to the government rather than individuals (which is often supported by the public because it provides a sense of satisfaction when the wealthy are taken down a notch), it is a price we must accept.

sometimes a hard reset needs to be performed to eliminate needless bureaucracy and old laws that are now idiotic.

it is the same as cleaning out the junk drawer in your kitchen from. time to time.

would be nice if it can be done without a huge war from time to time, but i don't know if it is humanly possible

lol, that's real "voting with your (head)". Can you change it every year?

Possibly. You might need to call inspection services, though

Massachusetts?

Yep

Just wait until you go down the infrastructure rabbit hole and realize just how bad it actually is.
