Hi Fabian, I've missed this one, sorry 🙇‍♂️

That's right, what you are talking about is exactly what I have been preparing for months and thanks to NIP-96 it will surely become a reality. Anyone will be able to install nostrcheck on their homeserver and use it as a backend for uploading files, etc. The nostr clients should offer the option of adding backends for multimedia as we do now with relays (it doesn't mean that an image can be uploaded to many sites at the same time in a compulsory way).

Even, they could be NIP-05 validators, lightning redirections, etc... Anyway, at the moment I'm 100% focused on everything related to NIP-96, if we can agree on this NIP everything will be much easier for everyone.

Would you like to incorporate Nostur to the PoC I'm trying to organize? The idea would be to install nostrcheck in several home servers of the people who have volunteered, and through a nostr client adapted to NIP-96 offer the possibility to use them indistinctly (add, remove, etc).

This has many advantages, the first and most important one is that the nostr clients will not have to adapt to the next multimedia servers that will emerge. With this standard everything will be easier!

Sure sounds good, but I need to read up on NIP-96 first. Does it also allow just linking domain or do you need to self-host right from the start?

It is not necessary to self-host, the media providers that adapt to NIP96 will be compatible and therefore you will not have to adapt Nostur to each one of them.

People will be able to add and remove them as they wish.

I will also try to encourage my implementation to be very easy to install and help decentralization.
