Why am I not surprised the far-right doesn't care about child safety?
First, an eclipse could blind students who stare at it for too long, without proper eye protection.
Second, most drunk driving incidents occur when it is dark out. During the eclipse it'll be dark outside. Do you want the kids to be at a higher risk of a drunk driving incident?
This is why the school is taking the proactive step of cancelling buses, due to the increased chances of drivers drinking and driving.
Lastly, the darkness outside will require the school to turn on more lights indoor, increasing the electricity usage. This will draatically increase the CO2 released in the atmosphere. In 100 years, this could have a devastating impact on the students.
