Except nostr is not a storage system. Its a way of relaying notes, and other stuff, from one user to another. Relays will nuke your data.

Store and forward! It’s definitely storing stuff, with a spectrum of guarantees on how long.

Nothing can store data forever, eventually entropy will consume us all.

You're on to something. Nothing can store data forever. But the bitcoin block chain might be as close as we get. Let that be the withness.

probably true, it will be hard to comprehend how important the bitcoin ledger is, I imagine future earth-based lifeforms will want to preserve that as long as possible, most likely even backing it up offworld incase of worldwide disaster.

or maybe we will all be wiped out and people will forget about it.

If we're all wiped out, the block chain can store instructions on how to reboot the species. Win-Win!

Right now I am focused on getting away from commercial platform capture. I now see how relays could specialize into long term storage relays and NIP44 be shored up to handle PQC.

For me, the mind blowing part is a different thinking model where the network is the app, storage, etc.

stateless backends.
