Not a fan of the “let’s all just be positive” sentiment going around here. The world is not a friendly place, now more than any time in my life. It doesn’t mean that undue pessimism is warranted, but sometimes what is perceived as negativity is just someone trying to get your attention. Being critical is not at odds with being optimistic. 💜

It is possible to be positive and still see and act appropriately the the bad/dangerous things in life. Never seeing or reacting to problems is not being positive. It is being naïve or intentionally blind.

Too many people spend too much time and energy caring about what “appropriately” means for other people when they should be spending that energy on fixing the real problems.

It’s finding the balance. ☯️

Balance is relative, but I don’t disagree.

Like all of our opinions.

I suspect that what you dislike is the lack of authenticity.

I tend to disregard people's judgements (positive & negative). The world is neither friendly nor hostile but you can meet people who will exhibit either stance. Often how they treat you is a reflection of how you treat yourself. Sometimes the stance they project is a posture or facade they've adopted.

This facade can be friendly/positive or grumpy/hostile. Either way it's just a facade to hide their authentic expression. To protect them from feeling hurt.

Asking uncomfortable questions is not passing judgement. The only judgement you should make is deciding what you prefer. People shouldn't take it personally when someone prefers something else. You also don't need to tell them their baby is ugly.
