So what is the current consensus to split long bitcoin addresses for visual verification?
Chunks of 4 characters separated with spaces?

What about split only first and last 8 characters?
make it at least 12 ,better 16 in the end and I say yes (if it is tech and sync easy to have it that way)
No. You want to check the whole string. Always.
Any specific reasons why would I want to always check the whole string and not only let's say the first 4 char after HRP, a random 4 char chunk in the middle and the last 8 char of an address? What are the chances of overlooking I've got a different but still valid address?
Devils advocate:
I would make it 6 (4 feels somehow seedish and also there would be too much chunks), but I don't know if it fits better in case of 4 into dividing count. Actually, even 4like chunks wont fit in for ex. 34ch length adr.
So in every case, where the numeraly nonhomogenic chunk would be? at beginning I suppose..
62ch. the same case
please don’t
Any reason why?
i second the question. why?
i think we should be abstracting away from the address as much as possible, in favour of qr codes or bip21 uris
the best UX i’ve seen thus far is a qr code that you can long press to get the uri with the amount and reason filled out.
actually showing the address (and showing it without the amount, blegh) feels like an anti-pattern to me
all great points but 1) we have to interact with existing systems using legacy addresses and 2) how do you verify the address is correct when it is completely abstracted away?
Allow me to rephrase #2. I worry about the additional attack surface that each new layer of complexity introduces. Verifying your own on-chain address is hard to beat in terms of simplicity and security.
Have you tried visually verifying the alphanumeric address on two different screens, or windows?
Superb glyph
i verified an addr in this format yesterday, it worked pretty well
I have never seen that. Good idea 👍🏼
I think it is good idea and we dont need to discovery wheel here. IBAN is using chunk 4 and also ipv6 address. I think it is good for quick check. Check all string is important, you are sending #money ;-)
Interesting idea. I just wouldn't use spaces since it makes the text hard to copy. Make it visual-only using css or similar crap.
Chunks of 4, I’ve seen colors for numbers. Would a QR code work in your use case?
