Good luck. I'm in the same boat. Got a Pixel and now to take the next step.
Iโm ready to do this as well. Donโt you think the Pixel is likely a wide open door to Googleโs data collection though?
I think privacy is tough so I'm taking it gradually. Just trying to make improvements. With iphone I had the drive, watch, MacBook, apple pay. Pure iphone fan boy.
I now don't use cloud drives, I have a synology NAS drive, use proton as an email service, Fdroid and brave browser, so got out of all the apple, and Google services. I do need it for the play store and maps essentially but that's about it.
With Samsung and Xiaomi, etc they have Google sign-in and their own sign in and terms of conditions. I figured pure Google is better.
It's not perfect but it's an improvement.
I read through GrapheneOS. It looks like a really solid project. Personally, Iโll wait for a more diverse hardware field, Google is so entrenched in data collection that you canโt even access their store to buy a Pixel from an obfuscated IP address. The same is true of all their web properties. Data collection IS their core business and always has been. Software switches are not hardware switches. I really wish there was some Android porting efforts being put into the Pinephones. Iโve tried so many different OS developments, they all lack support for common software, and most lack even a functional keyboard on the phone. *Sigh*
How are you finding the transition ? Are you finding your missing features ? I think the time invested in learning a new os is worth it for the privacy.
