I never had a good reason to until now. Having to rely on someone else’s service.. self custody, etc. Ultimately I want to be less connected. If I do this, it will be solely for my learning because I don’t need any of this in my life.

Once you've set it IP, it can be left alone. Ive had far less issues with #Start9.

Verifying your stack yourself on your own node feels really good.

Tried both. Start 9 is more “Linux”, Umbrel more “Apple” is kind of the feeling one gets when using them. I prefer Start 9 though (gets you more involved) and worked fine on an old ThinkPad. Issues with WiFi with both so better to keep your node plugged in to your network/router.

I’ve tried both, and I find Start9 to be more reliable. I frequently have problems on my Umbrel (running on an old Lenovo laptop) each time I update the OS or some app.
