I get it, why some entities want a high following number, but ordinary people? Why should I care for x people following me, when no engagement is there? If there is no algorithm highlighting the most followed, most liked, most whatever, it doesn't matter. We should focus on discovery, recommendation, curation. I don't want to see 1000 bullshit posts in my feed, but maybe someone does. I like to have high signal and low noise. Maybe heavy social media user want to know every new meme in existence. It should be easy to curate your feed very individually. Maybe there is a friend of a friend somewhere that I would find interesting, but I will never get to know this friend.
