I’ve been thinking about this. I think each planet will have its own time chain for sure.
I think people will be hashing earth-bitcoin entirely in earth’s gravity well. The moon is about a light second away, which means the speed of light based latency will cost you maybe 2/10tof a percent of your net revenue when hashing on the moon. That grows the further way you get.
Now, when it comes to where people will store their money, who live on Mars, transactions will definitely be slower if they are using the earth bitcoin time chain, but using the time chain of the place with the highest rate will be valuable for security and also for maximizing the likelihood that the time chain will keep operating.
I think some people will want their assets on the Martian time chain because they expected to grow, I suppose this would be a speculative play at the future value of the martian time chain.
I think this probably also means that asteroid belt minors will have regional time chains. Because the sign is too far away, maybe the asteroid belt would be split up into tens of different regions. I think asteroid belt time chains that would happen a lot later than a flourishing Martian time chain.
As we go out to other stars, I think it’s very unlikely that people will still try to use a time chain whose transactions require years and maybe decades of centuries to settle.
