I feel like we just can't trust any app or any site.

I know don't trust, Verify. It seems like all we can do is verify that we're being spied on and have no privacy and barely any security.

You overestimate our individual importance to them, and underestimate their laziness and risk aversion.

Very few FOSS programs have been found to contain backdoors, because there are too many eyes andthey are scared of their tools leaking.

And mass surveillance is always automated these days. Mess with their workflow even a little and there'll be missing values all across their dataset.

Mass surveillance is hard.
