However, calling someone by their preferred gender is the decent thing to do. I'm just saying the government can't get involved.
I wouldn't like it if someone called me "she".
It's not up to them how other people call them.
Just because I identify as a queen or as president does not mean that it is "the decent thing to do" to call me Your Majesty or Madam President.
The decent thing to do is not to pander to people's delusions but to help them to overcome them.
