It is real bitcoin which can be exchanged for fiat currency (which means the money we already use) but you can do whatever you want with it. You don't have to take any of it seriously and you can keep your sats (bitcoin) within the nostr network if you want. You might improve your experience by using some paid relays which you can access via zapping.
