So this is a holly blossom the honeybee is pollinating and gathering nectar from. This is a cousin of our blue ribbon honey, the Gallberry https://video.nostr.build/0c9e09de74160415463bca3fc2cafad3224ab63dbbbd1685648e7c8efccf41f2.mp4

Growing up my family had a male holly of some kind to pollinate our decorative female Nellie Stevens holly. Those flowers on that male holly smelled amazing, like apples. I wish I knew what kind it was because most other holly flowers smell nothing like that, kind of a faint wine like smell that isn’t as pleasant as that sounds.

It was also a huge tree, like 30’ tall or more, just like the female holly.

There are quite a few hollies. The yaupon is the closest to our Gallberry honey holly. It gets 20’ish high, no appreciable scent. It’s odd, I’ve never noticed a sweet scent around any hollies. Need to be more aware. Thanks for sharing!
