I have also had this issue - I did a couple things to work around it:

1. I made sure I was connected to at least one of the same relays as the person I was trying to follow.

2. I downloaded both primal and plebstr and experimented with following there - plebstr seems to be most reliable for following, but it also blocks my zaps (says ‘not supported on iOS’) so I end up using multiple clients.

These are common software growing pains and will get resolved quickly, so it’s good to report issues like this with tags like you did here. 🤙

Yeah nostr can be buggy, but gradually I either stop noticing or it gets worked out 🙂

I also use multiple apps and toggle between depending what im doing: scrolling, posting, searching, DMs, following. Also on iOS but strongly considering ditching.

I’m going to try a web client! Sometimes the mobile OS’s are a lot trickier since they update every other week 😅

Oh that’s an idea! Its so true. 🫠

As far as I am concerned, I have not yet found a definitive Nostr client.

If you use iPhone I think it's even more difficult, especially for zaps.

However, there are web apps you can use, such as iris.to or nostrudel.ninja or nostter.app or coracle.social

All have pros and cons, but whichever one you use you won't lose any of your followers or profile settings.

Just be sure not to enter your nsec indiscriminately, use extensions like nos2x or nostur on iphone.

There are so many new things coming out every day, like now everyone has a lightning address to receive zap on npub.cash

Or a service like nsec.app to have a login without exposing your nsec.

Sorry for giving you so much information all at once, I hope I didn't confuse you.
