How much of that "21 million (potential) bitcoin in the world" has already been lost due to keys being lost over time? More than anyone around here is willing to admit, I would guess, and that amount is increasing permanently.

Bitcoin is inherently deflationary.

Probably estimate is 5 million of so..

Just not clear if that really is a good thing. Shows the biggest adoption barrier for average person: fear of losing their private key (or having it extorted / hacked). The key (pun intended) issue we need to solve for mass adoption (and in a way that minimizes evil temptation of centralized shortcuts).
