GM! Help, I’m looking for recommendations on the best food for a 12 hour drive. Need to stay focused and attentive. Just me and the kid all day.

I’m thinking start with coffee and eggs, fruit and vegetables during the drive with maybe a few more hard boiled or raw eggs.

I’m really tempted to fast for most of the trip, but not sure if that keeps me alert enough or not.

Mainly I don’t want to be drinking red bulls and coffee the whole day.

The kid gets sandwiches, fruit and carrots, chicken or the like.

But what would you do?

almonds and walnuts

Good idea, I’ll pack a small bag of each.

Peanuts, apples, dates, beef jerky.

Nice! Sounds like the kind of thing a nomad would live on while traveling.

My Bulgarian friend once told me Turkish soldiers on horse back would put things slices of meat under their saddles and the sweat of the horse would cure them, and prosciutto was born. No idea if that’s true.

Interesting! I’ll have to check it out. Have a great time on the road 🤙

I do long trips often, my top suggestion is avoid sugar or anything with a high glycemic index. You want slow release not boom bust boom bust.

Also stay hydrated. Coffee works until it dries you out and then your brain starts to fry and misfire.

Maybe plan 2 stops for bathroom and a stretch?

Get some podcasts for when kiddo takes an inevitable sleep.

🤙 thanks stu we’re underway but this is solid advice (typing at a stop light)

I had a friend that said sunflower seeds were the best. This is because we’re kept alert when eating (ever notice you can read like crazy when eating?) and the seeds are small and low calorie so you can eat for extended periods.

The other thing is beef sticks. You can buy minimally processed primal beef sticks at Whole Foods.

🤙 interesting about the sunflower seeds

Epic bars for me, and bits of cheese, but there's also these.... https://eataupa.com/ and they accept bitcoin, too. Might be worth checking out.

When I used to have to do the big drives, I liked a large bag of beef jerky, or alternatively pepperoni sticks. Salty and took a little work to chew.

🤙 TY

arrived alive 🙌 gn
