The same people convinced Open Source doesn’t require steady funding believe GIMP is a real replacement for photoshop.

It sorta is

No, it is not, unless you’re only making memes.

It might compete with photoshop from 15 years ago.

Can confirm. Source: I use gimp

I do too, on my personal computers. Use photoshop at work. 🤣

They both definitely get shit done, but gimp != photoshop.

I don't really use either tbh 😂

💯

Always struggling in Gimp compared to Photoshop. Affinity also feels good, but same as photoshop: not free and open source

Luminar Neo is also good for photos, same problem. I get it through SetApp though.

Gimp maxi reporting in 🫡😎 people using Photoshop just pirate it and adobe is dying.

Adobe has made a lot of shit decisions. Photoshop isn’t one of them though.

Premiere though….

I pay for it. Mainly because Lightroom is pretty good if you’re serious about photography.

Lightroom is good on both PC and iPad. Love it. I pay for the PS+LR bundle.

Never met someone who pays for Photoshop. Maybe they make up for this with business use prices.

Photopia seems to be mentioned more nowadays too

I pay for just it, mostly for work. I use Lightroom at home when I crack out the Nikon though.

I wonder where the funding for blender comes from. Blender is best in class.

A lot of corporations and studios that use it in a commercial setting from what I understand, similar to Linux itself.

Blender is true OSS. They made a killer thing, it works better than anything else apparently. People complain it's insane to use it's UX and yet it still wins.
