Something about inserting a floppy disk is pleasing to senses. It is just nostalgia? nostr:note1vl050xs8em9ptjmu5mtwackussa8a5se2m9rqmkr2t5qm68za72s8zztnk

There's something tactile about the clicks and springy-ness to it that I miss.

Yessss

The eject button was oddly satisfying.

physical touch adds to the affection of the product

the whole process makes it feel like you are part of the process

Right? Same with record players. You just don’t get that with a screen :(

exactly, all the physical buttons and the small sounds booting up etc, that got you giddy to start playing/listening/watching

imagine a nostr desktop client designed for old computers, only sold as limited edition and signed floppy disks

I found an older set of wired earbuds and they had a physics volume and mic toggle sliders and it just felt nice to move them around instead of picking up phone and tapping.

tactile touch goes unnoticed a lot

the ‘silent’ button for iPhone is still here for a reason

Ser you are too young for physical buttons and toggles

grew up watching VHS and listening to cassette tapes, that my parents recorded during the soviet radio shows

👀

What a boomer!

never used DOS or any floppy disks though 💜

You mean you never did this?

I’ve used a computer with Windows 95, that didn’t have any internet, but I’ve never inserted or installed a floppy before

😂

Brings back memories.

The noise while reading and writing was pleasing as well

😌

The click when it's in fully...

🤌

I liked the diskettes where it was more of a thunk

Bit of both. There was that clear feedback that the thing was in… “clunk”

Gifs you can hear. 🙂

It's that final small push / feedback. The same with thing goes for pressing the button to remove the disk. Had lot's of fun timing that :D

How about an SSD enclosure that works the same way?

Recently got into LTOs for media backup… the joy of a tape being mounted is real
