I watched the documentary Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery. Overall, it was decently entertaining and did a good job of covering a lot of Bitcoin's history. However, there were some inaccuracies or misleading portrayals. For example, the documentary failed to mention that "Bitcoin Jesus" (Roger Ver) is now primarily associated with Shitcoins, inaccurately claimed that Blockstream takes a portion of all Bitcoin transaction fees, and misrepresented the Blocksize War. It also completely omitted any discussion of the Lightning Network and framed Blockstream as a centralized force behind Bitcoin, which doesn't accurately reflect the decentralized nature of the Bitcoin's ecosystem.

As for the ending conclusion... Is it Peter Todd, because he's incredibly intelligent, invented Replace-by-Fee and understands Bitcoin better than most? I don't know and I don't care. It doesn't matter who Satoshi Nakamoto is. Bitcoin is stronger because we don't know.

What I do know is that since the journalist misrepresented Blockstream and the Blocksize Wars, it seems likely that other aspects of the documentary could also be misrepresented, like the portrayal of Peter Todd and the attempt to connect random dots to Satoshi Nakamoto.

Someone please tell me a successful blockstream product today

Jade. Core Lightning.

Jade is hardly a success, will see if is around in a few years. How many HWW are there? Same for c-Lightning. There are other implementations out there. Much less funded companies and individuals have achieved much more.

I don’t want to shit on them, they have brilliant people on payroll, and have contributed immensely, specially early on, but you can’t help but feel something is lacking.

Jade seems pretty successful to me. I see it being recommended and people using it because it's cheaper than other offerings. How many people use CLN? We don't know and that's a good thing.

Biggest thing now: bolt12,

is from blockstream too

Good catch, I always associate it with Rusty Russel tho.

Journalism isn’t today what journalism once was. And what it once was never was what we thought it to be.

Plus, for someone going to such great lengths to be anonymous, what kind of asshole are you to go and put a target on their back?

Rita Seeker rings a bell

journalist cannot eat AIR 2 survive - whoever big pocket pays them they will praise them - blame culture not journalist

In for a penny in for a pound. Their participation is their guilt.

why n how tuckercarlson.com was born - junior editors /other ones cannot do this overnight

Not a fan of the traitor tbh

everyone has view

who is right wrong ur or my judgement - someone call u traitor also

Most would, claiming the title atheist was like painting a target on my forehead.

Seems like it misrepresented too many things to be called "decent."

It was decent for entertainment value for people that have no clue what's going on. Nothing is perfect.

I feel badly for those people. Seems like this will only make it look less useful to them.

Home Box Office entertainment ✅

For review type shit..

I think back to those pre internet days when we watched the same tv show and waited with anticipation to talk to our friends about it the next day🥹

A spoiler alert / please skip wall of text if next time 🤙🏽

Your bitcoin maxi consumer protection hat was def. appreciated 😂

Sorry to spoil, but also people have been talking about this non stop since last night, it's kind of hard to miss it.

nah, watched live on zap.stream yesterday for this very reason💀

are we at the “not going on nostr, to avoid [insert news]” times 😂

If it's a big enough movie, maybe 😂

Watching it now. It is quite entretaining. But ye already seeing some flaws

Especially after I saw the full power of a video editor in that 60 minutes kamala interview earlier on Tuesday. Their power to influence the viewers perception is VERY strong, - WHATEVER the interviewee says /doesn't say!!

Never saw that so clearly before.

Thank you. Your comment made me sure not to watch this documentary. It's saving my time! 😁

It's still interesting for the historical context even if the framing is bad.

Understand!

Documentaries always need to reach for conclusions in a one sided approach. It’s just the way they work. People believe what they want to. It’s human nature and if the documentary was pitched to solve this mystery it was doomed to fail from the beginning. Keep in mind, this is the same guy who “outed” Ron “Code Monkey” Watson as Q which is also highly contested. Almost like they ran the same playbook.

Also the fact that Hal is not alive, Szabo and others wanted no part of interviews certainly makes me think it’s quite convenient the documentary landed the main character. 😂

Absolutely. Painting Blockstream as a centralizing force was quite funny.

For a documentary like this in 2024 to not mention lightning once, especially as it relates to the “scaling problem” it takes the time to explain is ridiculous.

Also, for all the time spent on Blockstream and Adam Back, to not mention Liquid even once is a very large omission.

He even mentioned El Salvador and buying items with bitcoin 😂 They're not making on-chain transactions. To me is really sounds like he's a BCH or BSV shill.

Seems like it. Not mentioning lightning was a choice, not some omission of ignorance.

I would like a body language psychologist to analyze Peter, Adam, and even Samson in that documentary. I don’t think it matters who Satoshi is either. But Peter and Adam know or they are Satoshi. And I think Samson may know too. Peter and Adam know. I’d put money on it.

they photoshopped the screenshot where they show the bitcointalk post where peter supposedly "continued" satoshis thoughts.. like.. for real?! just show the original post in its entirety..
