I loved Twitter when the conversation wasn’t centered around the ego of the person running it. It had a lot of flaws, and had the potential to be so much more, but because of its centralized structure, was never able to reinvent itself. Now all I see when I look at it is a sideshow run by a clown.

Yeah, any developer chasing the Twitter audience will be making a mistake. It reminds me of all the Facebook clones that tried to mimic the timeline experience only to inevitably give up because the network effects were too strong to overcome without a major differentiator.
