Tik Tok is a huge time suck and, in my opinion, has made our nation dumber…however, do we really want the government deciding what apps, software, tech we can use?

It's obviously not really about Tik Tok. They're just trying to get more tools to stifle dissent online.
Correct!
I don't know what the answer is but I don't think it has anything to do with China. I think you're correct in saying that it is dumbing down our generation. Everyone I know is on it nonstop. You open it and it's just people doing dumb shit. Never downloaded it myself and never got the appeal.
Yea, total time suck. I just wonder what this means down the line when they inevitably decide bitcoin usage is a matter of “national security”. Simply Bitcoin did a great pod on this topic yesterday. When the answer is government intervention, makes me wonder what the question actually is.

I don’t really have a problem with the government banning TikTok. It’s pretty much worthless. I don’t think it’s much of a national security risk tho
If you look at this bill it gives them pretty broad powers to regulate more than just Tik Tok. Let’s them put their fingers into a lot more when it comes to tech and software.
Yeah, not a fan of that bill. I’m just not apposed to the idea of banning TikTok. Of course the government wouldn’t be able to accomplish something as straightforward as that
