Once upon a time, Alby was just a browser extension. Now it’s the reason our family still zaps all across the Nostrverse!
Not truly my own but I was curious to see what Ai would say to my zap quote and here it is 👇🏽
“The Legend of Alby and the Great Zap Legacy”
The year was 2140. Albe Simpson, now an old-timer with a twinkle in his eye and a weathered Lightning tattoo on his arm, gathered his grandkids around for one of his legendary stories.
“Kids,” he began, adjusting his Alby cap, “there was a time when Alby was just a little browser extension, no bigger than a few kilobytes. I installed it on a whim, just curious to see what this whole ‘zap’ thing was about. Little did I know, that tiny add-on would change everything.”
The grandkids’ eyes widened as Albe leaned in. “Back in the day, we zapped each other’s posts on Nostr for fun. It was like a virtual high-five, but with real sats flying around! Soon, it wasn’t just zaps for laughs. Alby became our connection to a whole new world. It powered everything from our daily coffee zaps to our interstellar messages.”
The kids gasped, and one of them blurted, “So, Grandpa, Alby helped you build our whole Lightning legacy?”
Albe grinned. “Exactly. Those little zaps turned into big dreams. And now, because of Alby, we’re still zapping across the Nostrverse, even when new Bitcoin stopped being mined!”
With a proud smile, he finished, “So remember, kids: it all started with a little browser extension… and a whole lotta zapping!”

Back in my day, we used to buy drinks with on-chain funds, and Twitter was totally uncensored! So we never quite understood why anyone would need this 'Alby' thing for Lightning and Nostr. But then, wham! Everything changed so fast. Suddenly, everyone was begging for invite codes just to get into Alby and have a Lightning wallet for sending zaps over Nostr.
But, thank goodness, those invites didn’t last long! Pretty soon, anyone could join Alby, make their own self-custodial wallet, and live happily ever after, sending sovereign zaps on Nostr. And that, my little ones, is how it all happened!
Back in the day we would zap strangers thousands of sats just for liking a post...
