Fasting doesn't make sense to me, however, I've heart many people whose opinion I respect say it works for them, so if it works for you, great.
It doesn't make sense to me because you would never see it implemented in the wild.
A tribesman would never be hungry and not eat food (assuming he has food).
When you are hungry, your body is telling you to eat.
When you are thirsty, your body is telling you to drink.
When you need to puke or have diarrhea, your body is trying to get rid of something ASAP.
These graphs are kind of sketchy because they don't do controls - you don't know what they usually eat (e.g. seed oils, fast food, coca cola).
If you eat garbage, or you want to burn body fat quick, fasting helps for sure.
If you're a kid and your body is growing, or you're a pregnant woman or a very lean or malnourished individual, it doesn't make sense.
However, I do understand it is a lot more nuanced than this.
