I’ve been reading “Memoirs of Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds” by

Charles Mackay. See if any of these sound familiar. This is from 1700s… South Seas Bubble and Mississippi Bubble.

The French account is insane. A worthy read.

I learned that much of French extravagant architecture came out of the Mississippi Company bubble. Such as the Chantilly Castle.
