I’ve been reading “Memoirs of Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds” by

Charles Mackay. See if any of these sound familiar. This is from 1700s… South Seas Bubble and Mississippi Bubble.

The French account is insane. A worthy read.

I learned that much of French extravagant architecture came out of the Mississippi Company bubble. Such as the Chantilly Castle.

Eerie similarities with crypto

Exactly. Reading this I was like… whoa!

I had the same feeling reading “Fiat money in France” by Andrew Dickson.

The time period covered is the 1780s but it sure sounds familiar when one thinks of central banks actions today. The tech of the time is different but the mechanics are the same.

The dates may change and the schemes may be different but the overall patterns remain consistent. Thanks for sharing and will definitely add this to my reading list.

History truly rhymes. Anyone who has read this will see clearly where things are heading. Shocking parallels with today.

Absolutely! The sad part is these lessons exist for all to see, but most don’t learn from them and thus keep repeating the same mistakes

The story of every shitcoin comes to mind.
