I don’t see why they would turn this into such a big production unless something is out of the ordinary.

They already know the answer to the gold question. Presidents won’t even participate in an interview without a full list of questions with answers already prepped. What they choose to show the public is what matters. So in this case, since they are making a big deal about gold reserves there are future plans (already laid) that will manifest from what they choose to show us about Fort Knox.

It’s unclear. Maybe they bought the gold or redeemed the paper gold certificates they had.
Either way, I doubt Trump would expose the US on the global stage and signal weakness. My guess is the gold wasn’t there but they will make sure it is when they being in the cameras. I could be wrong, but I don’t see the upside of showing a mostly or completely empty vault.
