A friend used to have a cat that I witnessed pick a vegetable out of a dish of some chicken stir fry. Even though cats require zero carbs, a study was done that if given options of protein and carbs for food, cats will very consistently consume around 12% of their calories from the carb option. And this was found in both house cats and strays.
