I unenrolled myself from school on my 18th birthday as an 18 year old 11th grader with a 1.9 GPA.
Then I homeschooled myself through a correspondence program with proctored exams and earned two years worth of high school credits in a month and a half.
Fuck the education system.
lulzy bro... i dropped out as a 5th year senior with a 1.2 GPA... after an inspiring LSD summer that wasnt ending. then just went and got GED... looks better than a 1.2 should i ever go to college, i reasoned.
The local army recruiters hooked me up with a high school over in Michigan that had a correspondence program for adults who wanted to go back and earn a diploma. I would sign up for two classes at a time and leave with the textbooks and a thick folder of homework for each class. I would sit in my room and work through it 8-10 hours a day, usually finishing it all in about three days. Then I would go in and take all the exams that you would have to take if you were in that class for a whole semester.
I went from being a year behind in school to graduating and leaving for basic training a month before I was even legally old enough to be awarded a HS diploma in Michigan. I was in Iraq when all my old high school friends were having their senior prom.
the public education system has always bored the smart kids and pandered to low average students
my husband likes to makes this joke: "what do you call a doctor with a C average?"... "a doctor"

Nah, the best education you ever got was given to you by yourself. The army just taught you that you're the only person you can rely on to learn new skills.
