No but sounds interesting

Sometimes it is better to blend in with the crowd.

Intriguing reply

Resisted buying an iphone for a while as I got my hands on a Linux based Nokia phone with shell access years ago. That was a huge set back for daily life as apps were quite crappy.

Later got excited with a potential Ubuntu phone that can be dockable to become full fledged desktop. Didn't happen. Wish it got materialized.

These look cool. But yes you miss a lot on ease of use and app support. https://tuxphones.com/best-linux-phones-buying-guide-2022/

I may consider the option of installing a compatible Linux distro on an old Android phone to test those. Always fun.

Another use case is using it as a smart home hub fixed on wall.

some days i still miss the danger hiptop, i had a terminal and i could ssh and shell on it, and that was glorious. :) it was nice having a phone that could do that, in 2004..

Pretty happy with CalyxOs

Is there any other type of phone?

I've got a Pinephone but need to replace the screen, again. My dog got to it when she was about 6 months old and gave it a chew. Super easy device to repair tho. Currently run PostmarketOS with PHOSH on it. Ran Arch for a while before that. Eventually I plan to get a more powerful device. I actually hate using my Googleless Android devices after having a full Linux distro in my pocket.
