Yeah. That vile guy.

His partner/wife/whatever would actively groom young kids to be used by him. His circle was pushing for removing age of consent laws and legalizing pedophilia.

Not to mention the destructive nihilism of post modernism. (I'm not a fan of modernism, but it was at least groundeevin reality.)

I get that. Any philiosophical belief system that overlaps with nihilism always (or usually) ends with the destruction of the believer's own moral values. I won't deny it, I was a tad bit like this for quite a while after I was discharged 🤷‍♂️. People really shouldn't follow a set system of beliefs, imho. I've been doing bloody well fine just doing what I believe to be both morally and practically correct all these years.

I will disagree since I believe in absolute Truth. Anything else is bound for destruction.

I've gotta agree with Beave on this one.

I heard this argument from experimental astronomer Brian Keating recently on why he practices Judaism even though he maintains an agnosticism about the existence of God:

Keating talks about how religions distill accumulated wisdom from thousands of years of human experience, and provide a moral touchstone against which we can measure ourselves. It is the height of hubris to think that, as a lone individual, I can replace those innumerable generations' worth of moral thought.

That's part of it, but, why not just believe at that point. 😤

Perfectly fine. There's nothing wrong with that, if that's what you're comfortable believing in. I'm perfectly content with my beliefs. They've helped my friends and family for ages, and they continue to do so to this very day. That's really all I care about.

I don't necessarily agree, but sure.
