People acting like perfect and spotless NPCs just so they can outperform other applicants.

And then they forget one crucial piece: one may lack a skill (or two), but if one is trainable and aligned with the mission and culture, willing to work and develop- one could easily take the job from the “robotic, perfected candidate with all desired skills”. So it leads us back to the beginning- just be who you are. Don’t fake it. It’s a match or it isn’t a match- super simple.
