I hate those tutorials “How to leave a good impression during an interview” and other bs.

1. You are not a robot. Be who you are.

2. It’s a two-way street: yes, they need to like you, but you also need to like them.

It has to be a match from both sides, otherwise it won’t work. As simple as that.

And then they forget one crucial piece: one may lack a skill (or two), but if one is trainable and aligned with the mission and culture, willing to work and develop- one could easily take the job from the “robotic, perfected candidate with all desired skills”. So it leads us back to the beginning- just be who you are. Don’t fake it. It’s a match or it isn’t a match- super simple.
