One alternative explanation is that Milei is playing the West/Israelis, gaining their support or at least tacit acceptance without incurring real liabilities to actually help them in return

I don’t think politicians are the players as much as the puppets

Possible exception is politicians who stay in power for decades

I think it's both, at least for the more intelligent politicians

You're not in power because you're irreplaceable or the most brilliant or whatever, but you still have a degree of agency
